Mary has made pioneering contributions towards women’s empowerment, child rights, alternative education, and disability rights in Srikakulam and Anantapuramu districts over the last four decades. She has promoted four women’s thrift and credit cooperatives and their federation, which now have a membership of more than 22,000 and a capital base of Rs. 25.16 crores. She setup the ‘Nature School’ and has advanced the concept of ‘Ecological Child Rights’ in the region. As Director – Programmes, Mary provides overall guidance to all the programmes of the Collective. Mary is a recipient of the ‘Vanitha Woman of the Year – 2010’ conferred by the Malayala Manorama Group and the ‘All Grassroots Woman of the Decade -2014’ organised by the Women Economic Forum (WEF). She is also co-recipient of “Couple of the Year – 2005” award conferred by the WEEK Magazine and the “One World Award – 2014” conferred by Rapunzel Naturkost, Germany’s leading organic food company, and IFOAM-Organics International. Mary holds a Master of Social Work from the Loyola College of Social Sciences, Thiruvananthapuram.
